Dear farmer dear food producer

Food production is Africa's lifeblood. Sector employs 80 per cent. of population and are key to reduce poverty in Africa.

Ulla Tørnæs
Unfortunately, products often outdated and inefficient.
There is great need for technology transfer and training. A dynamic private food sector can create jobs, bringing capital to Africa and provide long term growth. Partnership with African companies provide valuable contacts, access to a market and export opportunities
have long been overlooked by international investors. Pay conditions are favorable and there is around 800 million potential consumers.

Danida has a particular focus on foods. They higher prices on a range of products makes it essential more interesting for Danish farmers and food
to invest in Africa. Danida can support with advice and financial assistance. The private sector and development can go hand in hand to enhance food production in Africa.

These are three examples of informal cooperation Danish and local partners who have received development
support from DANIDA. I hope it can inspire others companies with international ambitions and focus on business-driven social responsibility to explore
opportunities on the African continent.
